Civil War Forrest "The Ghost Column""THE GHOST COLUMN"
An American Civil War collectible, "The Ghost Column," by Mort Kunstler. Colonel Nathan Bedford Forrest refused to join other Confederate officers in surrendering to the Northern army at Fort Donelson. Like ghosts in the winter night, Forrest led his troops to safety by traveling through snowy Tennessee thickets. The excellent print is highlighted by skillful mat cutting that draws attention to the brass crossed swords like those which would be worn on the cap of a Civil War calvaryman. The oak framed picture, with glass, measures 15 1/2 by 12 1/2. It is matted using three mat colors and has a 1/8 inch cut-out line that highlights everything in the picture. The authentic Civil War stamp depicts another daring General, Stand Watie. He was the only Indian General in the Confederacy, led a Cherokee regiment, and was the last CSA General to surrender. This stamp was issued June 29, 1995.
