Civil War Forrest "No Surrender"An American Civil War collectible, "No Surrender" by Don Stivers. The artwork depicts Colonel Nathan Bedford Forrest refusing to surrender his forces at Fort Donelson to the Northern army as had been done by other Confederate officers. He told his men, "I did not come here to surrender." He promised if they would follow him he would lead them out, which he did. The excellent print is highlighted by skillful mat cutting that draws attention to the brass eagle piece like that which would be worn on one side of a hat to hold the brim up. The oak framed picture, with glass, measures 15 1/2 by 12 1/2. It is matted using three mat colors and has a 1/8 inch cut-out line that highlights everything in the picture. The authentic 66 year old Civil War stamp honoring General Lee and General Jackson was issued March 23, 1937.
