USS Ethan Allen Class SubmarineDID YOU KNOW?
The USS Ethan Allen (SSBN-608) fired the only
nuclear-armed missle ever launched. On
May 6, 1962, a POLARIS missle was launched
from the USS Ethan Allen while submerged
in the Pacific, and its nuclear warhead was
detonated over the South Pacific at the end
of its programmed flight where it hit its
target. To date, this is the only complete
proof test of a U.S. strategic missile. This 19 inch by 16 inch hardwood
framed picture, with 3 colored mats, consists of
a submarine patch (USS Ethan Allen)
and a gold tone submarine emblem. Pictured on
the maxicard is a Ethan Allen Class Nuclear
Ballistic Missile Submarine along with a picture of the
USS Ethan Allen patch. There are 3 submarine
postage stamps also included in this picture.
