U.S. AirforceDID YOU KNOW?
During WWII, more than a thousand women signed up
to fly with the U.S. military. The Women Airforce Service
Pilots were nicknamed "WASPS." They
test-piloted aircraft, flew newly manufactured
planes in America to oversea bases and ferried
planes from one air field to another, but
never into combat. They logged over 60 million
miles in the air. The WASP mascot was a girl
with wings on her back wearing cowboy boots, long
gloves and a flyers helmet. It was designed by Walt
Disney who named her, "Fifinella" which was
shortened to "Fife" by the WASP. This 17 1/2 inch by 16 inch hardwood
framed picture with 3 colored mats, consists
of an Airforce patch and U.S. Airforce pilot
wings. Included is also a 6 cent Airforce
stamp (44 years old) and two other Airforce
stamps along with a maxicard.
