B-17 Flying Fortress Airplane

DID YOU KNOW? During World War II it was the B-17 Flying Fortress that became legendary as one of the most reliable and rugged bombers. It would fly at high altitudes, carry a heavy bomb load and travel great distances to hit its targets. The Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941 successfully destroyed many of the 129 B-17s that had been built. The B-17s major role was to bomb Germany's vital military manufacturing plants. This 17 1/2 inch by 15 1/2 inch hardwood framed picture consists of an Air Force patch, Air Force wings, three World War II Army Air Corps official postage stamps (three cent stamp is 55 years odl) and a postmarked maxicard picturing a B-17 Flying Fortress.
