P-40 Warhawk Airplane

DID YOU KNOW? Because of the graphic design painted on engine, the P-40 Warhawk came to be called the "Flying Tiger." It was the first fighter plane that could be mass produced when World War II appeared certain. Ultimately over 13,700 P-40s were manufactured. Although they were quickly surpassed by faster fighters, the P-40 played a key role in the air war. Probably the most memorable part of this plane was its use by an American Volunteer Group who were known as the "Flying Tigers" and did battle against Japan in the skies over Burma and China. This 17 1/2 inch by 15 1/2 inch hardwood framed picture consists of an Air Force patch, Air Force wings, three World War II Army Air Corps official postage stamps (three cent stamp is 55 years odl) and a maxicard picturing a P-40 Warhawk.
