With its powerful radar and long-range missiles, the carrier-based Tomcat is the main protector of the Navy's fleet. The wing of this plane can be adjusted for low-speed carrier landings and very high speed supersonic flight. Though a large plane in size, it is considered an excellent dogfighter in aerial combat and one of the fastest among the jet fighters. The hardwood frame is 18 x 16 inches. It is triple-matted and contains Navy wings, a F-14 Tomcat patch and a maxicard picturing a F-14 airplane. Also included is a 4 cent Naval Aviation stamp (40 years old), a 3 cent Naval Reserve Stamp (44 years old) and a 3 cent Navy stamp (56 years old).
