Esso Oil Company

DID YOU KNOW? Anyone over 70 years of age might recall when a trip to the service station involved the hand pumping of gasoline by the attendant into a glass cylinder mounted high on top of the pump. The gas was released to flow by gravity into the car's fuel tank at a cost of about 10 cents a gallon. From 1916 to 1935 the glass cylinder gas pumps were a common sight. Framed in hardwood the picture measures 17 3/4 x 16 3/4 inches. Three different mat colors add to the picture's appearance. Included in this picture is an art print of an Esso station, an Esso patch, a special commemorative cover and 4 cent petroleum industry stamp which is 42 years old (August 27, 1959).
