Largemouth BassDID YOU KNOW?
The largemouth bass is classified as a sunfish
rather than a true bass. As a general rule,
the species seems to reach a maximum of 10
pounds, but 20-pound catches are not uncommon.
The fish prefers quiet water containing
bountiful vegetation. Each spring, males dig
nests by brushing clear a circular area over a
gravel bottom, then females lay up to
25,000 eggs. The eggs become fingerlings in
three to six days, and remain in schools as they
grow. Once mature, however, the largemouth bass
tends to be a loner. Largemouths will strike at
almost anything that enters their domain, whether
in the water or in the air. Matted in three
colors, this picture consists of a largemouth
bass art print, fishing lure and an official
post office first day of issue envelope featuring
largemouth bass art work and a largemouth
bass postal stamp, both of which are 14 years old.
The solid oak frame measures 17 inches by 17
