Carousel HorseDID YOU KNOW?
Originally, there were only a handful of
traveling artisans who could carve the
lavishly detailed and ornately decorated
carousel animals. The horse became the
preferred animal to portray the carousel
ride. Although you never travel anywhere,
but round and round, a child could ride his
or her mount on some imaginery journey.
Choosing which animal to ride was never easy.
Carousel horses have provided people many
moments of happiness and memories. This is
one of our larger pictures, framed in 1 1/4
inch beaded wood, measuring 22 1/2
by 20 inches. Three different mat colors are
used along with three cut outs, each displaying
an official postage carousel horse stamp.
There were 4 different carousel horse stamps
issued on July 21, 1995. All four are included
in this picture. The First Day Cover (envelope)
features one of the four horses found on the
stamps. The pewter carousel horse is placed
in a 5 1/2 inch circle. A very impressive
piece for those who love carousel horses. Our Price: $75.00
