Mickey DancingDID YOU KNOW?
It took Walt Disney three trys to make Mickey
Mouse a star. The first attempt was made in
March of 1928. The cartoon was called "Mickey
Mouse in Plane Crazy," which was inspired by
Charles Lindberg's record breaking trans-Atlantic
flight. This silent animated motion picture
failed to attract an audience. In August of
1928 Disney held a second premiere, this time
featuring Mickey as the "Gallopin' Gaucho."
It also was a silent cartoon. Like the first,
it flopped. The third effort took place on
November 18, 1928. This time Mickey had a
voice and starred in "Steamboat Willie." It
was the first "all-talking" animated motion
picture ever shown. The Mickey with a voice
became an instant hit. The voice used for
Mickey was none other han that of Walt
Disney himself.
Here is a cute picture of Mickey dancing on
movie film. This unusual piece is 19 x 15 inches,
