Red Classic MotorcycleDID YOU KNOW?
Some would contend that sitting on top of an
explosion is not the way to travel. Yet that
is exactly what one does when riding a
motorcycle. From the earliest bikers,
precautions had to be taken to insure as much
safety as possible. When motorcycles first
became popular, riders were careful to wear
the proper attire while traveling down the
dusty roads on their noisy machines. To
protect the eyes one would definitely wear
those big, round, dark goggles. Thick leather
gloves with high cuffs would be necessary to
insure a good grip on the handlebars and to
protect the arms from flying bugs and being
skinned up in case of a fall. For the same
reasons, they wore heavy coats and tall leather
boots that came up as high as the knees.
This was necessary to protect their legs
from the heat of the engine. Cycle riders
today still lean heavily on leather to
protect themselves from the very same dangers
faced by those who first rode atop a motor.
The motorcycle is framed in solid oak and
features a commemorative envelope depicting
a great American legend motorcycle.
